From 4th to 14th September, a group of 7 students represented Zhejiang University went on an academic trip to Yale and Harvard University. This summer program is organized by College of Biomedical Engineering and Instrumental Science, Zhejiang University. It intends to broaden students’ international horizon and provides them with an excellent access to the world’s top resources.
On the arrival date, Doctor Zhang YongDeng from Professor Joerg Bewersdorf’s laboratory and Professor Derek Toomre introduced the latest research of their labs. This was followed by Professor Zhang Sheng and Professor Fan Rong discussing about biomedical engineering technology and educational discrepancies between China and western countries. The students were deeply intrigued by their speeches and showed great interest in such cutting-edge research topics.
At the Center of Biomedical Imaging, Harvard University, Professor Zhang Quan talked about the development of Magnetoencephalography Technology. He emphasized the difference between structural and functional imaging. The students also had chance to experience the charming view of Harvard University campus.
The program focused on both academic research and cultural immersion, which not only provided the students with various academic lectures, but also created a chance for them to visit the famous North American campuses and landmarks there. Through this program, students experienced the research spirit of world top university developed their critical thinking and were one step closer to the aim of innovation.
