On December 11th, Vice President of Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Prof. Park Hyun-Wook and his delegation visited the College of Biomedical Engineering and Instrument Science (CBEIS), ZJU, and made an in-depth exchange of brain imaging technology.
Dean of CBEIS, Prof. Zhang Hong gave a warm welcome to the KAIST delegation. Prof. Zhang Hong pointed out that, while ZJU tool Stanford University as the benchmark, CBEIS also set the standard for the world-class college of biomedical engineering. Center for Brain Imaging Science and Technology (CBIST) and PET Center, would take full use of the interdisciplinary advantages of ZJU and have extensive international cooperation. CBEIS expected to carry out multi-form cooperation with the KAIST through China-Korea inter-governmental cooperation projects and other forms.
Prof. Park Hyun-Wook and Prof. Zhong Jianhui, Director of CBIST respectively introduced the research of brain imaging in both institutions. Prof. Park Hyun-Wook excitedly introduced his experience of overcoming difficulties in the development of MRI technologies, and showed his early photos of building MRI equipment personally. He also introduced his team's recent research results. Then, Prof. Zhong Jianhui introduced the research his team had done recently, including the new technology of MRI and the related clinical application research, focusing mainly on the MRI techniques, and the applications of MRI.
In recent years, CBEIS has formed cooperation with European and American countries in talents, scientific research and other aspects. In the field of brain imaging alone, CBEIS has trained many excellent master and PhD students. As the world's top universities in Asia, Zhejiang University and The Korea Academy of Sciences have the potential for all-round cooperation. Through this exchange, the two sides discovered many points of common interest and looked forward to further cooperation.
