In the middle of May 2020, Led by Prof. Hong Zhang, dean of College of Biomedical Engineering and Instrument Science(CBEIS), Zhejiang University, 14 members of CBEIS paid a special visit to Shanghai United Imaging Medical Technology Co., Ltd(UI). And Institute of Brian-Intelligence Technology for in-depth investigation and promotion of Industry-University-Research cooperation.
At UI, Prof. Zhang Hong and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Mr. Zhang Qiang, co-president of the company. CBEIS delegation had a discussion with Mr. Zhang Qiang and other experts from UI. At first, Mr. Zhang Qiang and Prof. Zhang Hong made an introduction of the development for both sides. Later, teachers from CBEIS introduced their own research in the field of medical imaging. The discussion was carried out in a warm atmosphere, and UI showed strong interest in some research areas.
During the discussion, proposed framework for cooperation was discussed. The suggested cooperation fields include medical imaging, preclinical research, big data and artificial intelligence etc., and the cooperation will include the exchange of professionals, the cooperation of research projects, and the construction of joint laboratories etc. Prof. Zhang Hong fully affirmed the proposals, saying that the cooperation between UI and Zhejiang University will serve the national major science and technology development strategy, solving the problems of big medical equipment.
Subsequently, Prof. Zhang Hong and his delegation went to the Institute of Brian-Intelligence Technology and were warmly welcomed by Academician, Prof. Zhang Xu's team. Prof. Zhang Xu introduced the research orientation, research framework, innovation elements, research progress and typical achievements his team had made in detail
Prof. Zhang Hong briefly introduced CBEIS, and clearly expressed the intention to strengthen the cooperation with Brain and Intelligence Science and Technology Research Institute. Academician Zhang Xu agreed the necessity of cooperation between the two sides, stressing that research institutions must be combined with the scientific research strength of universities.
The trip to Shanghai was fruitful. The cooperative partnership with UI andInstitute of Brian-Intelligence Technology had been preliminarily determined from the college level, which had laid a solid foundation for the follow-up cooperation.
