On September 12th, the opening ceremony of class 2020 graduate students and a series of activities of starting career education were held. Prof. Zhang Hong, President of CBEIS, Mr. Xiang Pinhui and Ms. Yang Yang, deputy secretaries of the Party Committee, Prof. Zhou Hong and Prof. Liu Qingjun, Vice President of CBEIS, as well as faculties, stuff, and grade 2020 graduate students attended the activity. The activity was hosted by Ms. Yang Yang.
The opening ceremony began with a passionate national anthem. Mr. Xiang Pinhui gave a welcome speech. ‘If you want to wear the crown, you must bear its weight.’ Secretary Xiang encouraged freshmen to adapt to the postgraduate life as soon as possible and compose their youth with the attitude of struggle.
Next, the teachers sent a message to the students. Representatives of the graduate students sent teachers a teacher's Day blessing and flowers. At last, Zu Tao, a master student of biomedical engineering in grade 2020 gave a speech on behalf of the freshmen. He pointed out that currently, medical products rely heavily on imports, and graduate students should be rooted in Zhejiang University, have a heart of the motherland, take a global perspective, meet challenges with a positive attitude, and create our future.
After that, a series of activities of initial education were carried out. Prof. Zhang Hong brought the first lesson to the freshmen. Prof. Zhang introduced the history of CBEIS, and biomedical engineering discipline as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by the freshmen. Prof. Zhang also encouraged the freshmen through the deeds of excellent seniors, so as to jointly realize the dream of CBEIS, the dream of ZJU and the dream of China.
Subsequently, the school carried out safety education. In the next two months, CBEIS also arranged a series of initial education links, including education on scientific ethics and academic standards, teamwork, singing of school songs etc.
