The first forum for educational work in biomedical engineering (BME), China was held by the West Lake in May 1981. Forty years later, on May 8th, 2021, A new generation of experts and scholars gathered again in Hangzhou to carry on the tradition and discuss the development and future trends of BME. Professor Wang Weiqi, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Luo Qingming, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and more than 70 other BME specialists from nearly 40 universities or institutes including Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, and Zhejiang University (ZJU) attended the meeting.
The forum provided a face-to-face interactive platform for BME experts nationwide to share their perspectives. The participants focused on the disciplinary construction and future development of BME, and aimed to seek new growth points for achieving world-class standard. College of Biomedical Engineering and Instrumental Science (CBEIS), ZJU will seize the opportunity to jointly construct the Department of Information Science and the Department of Medicine to consolidate the areas of strength in BME. CBEIS, ZJU aims for representativeness in the field and for the goal of higher quality, more remarkable, more respectable and more dreams.
