Biomedical Sensing and Detection Doctoral Forum 2024 Successfully Convened

On November 16th to 17th , 2024, the 2024 Zhejiang University Biomedical Sensing and Detection Doctoral Forum was successfully held. The event was organized by Zhejiang University's College of Biomedical Engineering & Instrument Science (CBEIS), Taizhou Institute of Zhejiang University, and Taizhou Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. It was co-hosted by CBEIS and Taizhou Institute of Zhejiang University, with support from the Zhejiang Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Xian’ju Medical Device Town.

The main agenda included an opening ceremony, expert presentations, PhD student reports, poster sessions at Taizhou Institute, and a visit to the Xian’ju Medical Device Town for discussions on medical device innovation.

Opening Ceremony and Keynote Speeches

The opening ceremony on November 16th was attended by over 20 experts and guests, including officials from Taizhou's Science and Technology Bureau and Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, as well as leaders from Zhejiang University and the Zhejiang Society of Biomedical Engineering. More than 70 PhD students from prestigious universities across China participated, including Zhejiang University, Southeast University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Tianjin University, Southern University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

PhD Student Presentations and Poster Sessions

During the forum, PhD students presented their research through oral reports and posters, sharing experimental methods, technical details, and future research directions.

Visit to Xian’ju Medical Device Town

On November 17th , participants visited the Xian’ju Medical Device Town, where they attended a forum on medical device innovation. Experts such as CEO Xiao Li from Xian’ju Medical Device Town, Deputy Director Hai Ming Wu from the China Medicine Education Association, Deputy Director Wen’wu Zhu from the Zhejiang Medical Products Administration, and Researcher Jie Li from Taizhou Institute shared insights on theoretical research, technology development, and the conversion of research into practical applications.

The forum, themed Promoting Deep Integration of Industry, Academia, and Research to Foster Compound Talent, aimed to build a high-level exchange platform for outstanding PhD students in biomedical sensing and detection. It emphasized not only academic and research skills but also the integration of resources from local government, universities, research institutes, and industries to promote the practical application of academic achievements. Participants gained a deeper understanding of their role in technological innovation and industrial application, reinforcing their commitment to serving national strategic needs through academic excellence.

This event injected new momentum into the innovative development of biomedical sensing and detection technologies in China, exploring models for cultivating compound talents.
